Links from other sites increase your credibility for search engines such as Google.  The more quality links you have, the more they are going to help you out.  Submitting to a link directory is a great way to begin your linking campaign.  There are a number of free link directories around, and I have listed a number of them below.  I will also add to this list as I submit and get listed in additional link directories.  If you have a link directory that you feel is missing, feel free to email us and we will look into adding it.

Here is a good list of free directories that you can submit your site to.  Each link directory is a bit different, some you need to click on an email to complete your submission, some are reciprocal link directories, but most of these are free, just submit and go.  Good luck:

dmoz.org - Everyone should submit their site to this link directory.  It may take some time to be added, or you may not be added at all, but it is a very established directory with great page rank.

jayde.com - Try to find a category that is not too crowded, you may get some traffic from this site.  They are pretty quick to add sites, and have pretty good page ranking.  Very good link directory. 

somuch.com - Pretty easy submission, decent page rank, worth submitting here.

netinsert.com - Pretty good page rank, they ask you to add a link to your site in return, worth checking them out.  Reciprocal link directory.

http://www.publimix.net/submit.php  High page rank link directory, submissions are manually reviewed, well worth submitting.

http://www.directorydice.com  High page rank free link directory, offer paid, reciprocal and free links.  May take a while for approval and listing on the free link selection.

http://tenerifegroup.com Average page rank directory, need to navigate to the site submission link from the home page.

http://www.nicksyear.com Easy to use, quick link listing, good page rank, submission here recommended, another free link directory

http://www.web10.ws/ This is a paid directory that should send some traffic your way just in terms of advertising your site.  They offer a few different options that will allow you to list internal pages in addition to your home page.  Good for deep linking, has an excellent page ranking as well.
